The Best Cookies You Will Ever Eat

There is no debate - these oatmeal raisin cookies are the best cookies that I have ever baked. It could be the little bundles of joy that are sultanas or the sweetness that would make even the grouchiest old person want to rescue a kitten, but whatever it is, whenever I take these cookies anywhere there is a unanimous, "Mmm." And that's all the recommendation you need. Warning: may cause addiction, the desire to bake all day like some deranged housewife, and sugarhigh.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon cloves
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup white sugar
  • 3/4 cup raisins
  • 2 cups oats
  • 3/4 cup butter or margarine, softened
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Method

Combine all ingredients, then drop rounded spoonfuls onto a baking tray. Bake at around 180 degrees for ten minutes. Allow to cool for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack.

This is so bloody American.
